May 30, 2009.
My one year anniversary on the dailies. It has been a blast. I have met some wonderful people, some even in person! I may have missed a few days and posted some shots not taken on that day, but, it is what it is. I can honestly say that I love it here and look forward to catching up with everyone on a daily basis (when possible)!!!!

Thank you for all the encouragement and mostly for the helpful hints and tips.

Went to Eastern State Penitentiary with friends who can't join the SmugMug group on August 13th. Plus, I filled out a survey on the way out and I have 4 free passes for the SmugMug group! It was soooo hot and humid. It was fun to shot there, I think (hope) I learned alot from my mistakes, don't you just love digital!!!

This is the bell tower, I guess, attached to a church - I thought the outside winding steps and red door up there were interesting. Unfortunately, the door was padlocked from the outside, so even if I were feeling brave, I couldn't get inside.

Someone you don't normally see on the beach in June in 90 degree weather. He must have been melting with all those cloths on and suede boots, to boot.

Tuesday, June 23rd.
This is my brother, his wife and my 2 wonderful niece's Akita, Khyber. Khyber was only about 3 when diagnosed with Wobbler's Disease - a condition of the vertebrae that randomly attacks (from the little I know about it) large breed dogs and horses, causing unsteady gait and weakness. Sadly, he subcombed to the disease tonight, at only 31/2 years old.

Khyber, a true gentle giant, you will be missed and mourned. I love you, pupper.

R.I.P.- baby.

July 30, 2008 (Day 61)
It is sooooo hot here - stopped down at Valley Green on my way home from work - it is usually at least 10 - 15 degrees cooler down there, not today. I quickly took a few shots and decided (as I was literally melting) that if I didn't like any, I would either torture Jax (in A.C.) or post something old. I like this one because of the flowers growing randomly out of the pillar of the bridge. The specks on the water are from the mosquitos and various other nasty things that probably were related to the ones on me!! Sometimes it is soooooo good to be home!

My boy, Jax, again. I adopted him last October from the Golden Rescue here in Pennsylvania. He was thin and lethargic with a very thin, dry, brittle coat. He barely had any fur on the whole under side of his neck and tail. It took several trips to varous Vet's until one finally listened to me. He has food allergies, hypothyroidism and seasonal allergies. Once thyroid meds, and a special diet were started, he has become a "new dog". He has energy, a beautiful new coat and best of all, I think for the first time in his almost 4 years, he actually feels good. It is a pleasure to watch him run, dance and smile!!

The Freemasons of Pennsylvania sought to honor the memory of George Washington, a national hero, patriot and prominent Freemason, and to honor the brave men who endured the winter encampment at Valley Forge in 1777 - 1778 with this Memorial Arch.

Another from Friday at the Philadelphia Zoo. I just like the way he turned to look at me. I was in a corner looking down while he was sleeping and all of a sudden he stretched and looked backwards!

Thanks, to Bill Pador for the advice on how to shoot thru plexiglass!!!!! I did OK, I think - except for the indoor/dark shots. But, I'll go back!!

The Ben Franklin Bridge and ferry heading over the Delaware River to the Camden waterfront.

I have been taking pictures for a little over one year and joined SmugMug to have fun, to challenge myself to take photos each day, and to continually strive to improve my skills. I really enjoy gaining new perspectives and ideas through viewing others work and through comments and constructive feedback on mine from the many supportive, helpful, and wonderfully talented amateur and professional photographers I have met through SmugMug. I truly value the opportunity to enjoy the work and to interact with so many professional photographers who are members of this community. In addition, I also try to offer support and encouragement to others who, like me, may be relatively new to photography and may be encountering similar obstacles and difficulties in this on going learning process. For these reasons I find some of the comments of the past few days which have been directed towards me to be disturbing, hurtful , and certainly not valid. Although it is certainly nice to receive any comments on my photos, my goals are much more personal and have never been to win a “popularity” contest .

On this second day in a row of 96 degree + heat, what do I do???? Go for a 2 hour guided tour of a National Historic Landmark cemetery. It was well worth it and a good day, overall. I melted here and there but survived. "Mad dogs and Englishmen out in the midday sun..." This is one of the few remaining stained glass panels in one of the many mausoleums, lost mainly due to age, weather and vandalism.
