Went to Eastern State Penitentiary with friends who can't join the SmugMug group on August 13th. Plus, I filled out a survey on the way out and I have 4 free passes for the SmugMug group! It was soooo hot and humid. It was fun to shot there, I think (hope) I learned alot from my mistakes, don't you just love digital!!!

My boy, Jax, again. I adopted him last October from the Golden Rescue here in Pennsylvania. He was thin and lethargic with a very thin, dry, brittle coat. He barely had any fur on the whole under side of his neck and tail. It took several trips to varous Vet's until one finally listened to me. He has food allergies, hypothyroidism and seasonal allergies. Once thyroid meds, and a special diet were started, he has become a "new dog". He has energy, a beautiful new coat and best of all, I think for the first time in his almost 4 years, he actually feels good. It is a pleasure to watch him run, dance and smile!!

July 30, 2008 (Day 61)
It is sooooo hot here - stopped down at Valley Green on my way home from work - it is usually at least 10 - 15 degrees cooler down there, not today. I quickly took a few shots and decided (as I was literally melting) that if I didn't like any, I would either torture Jax (in A.C.) or post something old. I like this one because of the flowers growing randomly out of the pillar of the bridge. The specks on the water are from the mosquitos and various other nasty things that probably were related to the ones on me!! Sometimes it is soooooo good to be home!

Hey Studio721 - I told you - you gave me an idea.......another silly shot of fun salt and pepper shakers! One of my favorite old cartoons - Foghorn Leghorn and Chicken Hawk!! I don't use them, but they are always on the countertop!

Another from Friday at the Philadelphia Zoo. I just like the way he turned to look at me. I was in a corner looking down while he was sleeping and all of a sudden he stretched and looked backwards!

Thanks, to Bill Pador for the advice on how to shoot thru plexiglass!!!!! I did OK, I think - except for the indoor/dark shots. But, I'll go back!!

Re-grouping while Hillary sets up the group shot.
It was sooo very nice to get together with all these fine people.
I had a great first day off from work!!

On this second day in a row of 96 degree + heat, what do I do???? Go for a 2 hour guided tour of a National Historic Landmark cemetery. It was well worth it and a good day, overall. I melted here and there but survived. "Mad dogs and Englishmen out in the midday sun..." This is one of the few remaining stained glass panels in one of the many mausoleums, lost mainly due to age, weather and vandalism.

National Medical Imaging - located in an old stone church. Beautiful place and wonderful people - I love you Kathy and Rich!!!! And they LET/ENCOURAGED me to photograph!!!! I will be back!! Heh, heh!!

An old church I pass to and from work. I am a sucker for old stone walls and buildings. My goal is to get inside and get some photos of the stained glass (I know, what a shock!). It just has sooo much of it. That must be a stairwell just to the right of the door that has panels every few steps, it seems.

Due to the fact that "Big Foot" (aka - Jax) will not allow bunnies in our garden, I called on one of his to pose for me, so I could have a POTD. Jax feels he is the "Great Wabbit Hunter", I can see it in his eyes as he stalks all the neighborhood bunnies on our morning walk!

Just a quick shot of Jax, relaxing after dinner with one of his trusty leg whackers. I'm off to see Keb' Mo' at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA. A fabulous old, small venue to see artists. And, right around the corner (sort of)! (He is a blue's guy, if you aren't familiar).

This is on the grounds of the Luthern Theological Seminary that I pass on my way to and from work. Today I noticed the poppies poking their heads over the old stone wall. Sorry, I don't yet know how to link the rest of these photos to this one. (Old stone wall).

OK - here I go, my third attempt to leave information. First let me say I am having major DSL issues, so if I get cut off again........I'll scream! (Also the reason this photo is my POTD, twice.)
William Welsh Harrison, co-owner with his brother of the Franklin Sugar Refinery purchased the Rosedale Hall estate in Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA from J. Thomas Audenreid. He and his family took up residence and eventually purchased neighboring properties, to extend his holdings to 138 acres. In 1891 Mr Harrison decided to enlarge the main house and provide a gatehouse and stables. Horace Trumbauer, a 23 year old architect was hired and completed the work in 1892. January of 1893 a raging fire destroyed the main house of Rosedale Hall.Again, Mr. Trumbauer was asked to build a new home on the site of Rosedale Hall. Plans for a grandiose structure based on Alnwick Castle, the medieval seat of the Dukes of Northumberland in England were completed by March. The new residence, estimated at $250,000 would be inspired by Alnwick, but not directly copied from it. After many additions, Mr. Harrison now owned one of America's great castles which, with its 40 rooms, was also one of the largest homes in the country.
Mr. Harrison died in 1927 and in 1929 Beaver College purchased Grey Towers from his widow and son at a price of $712,500. In October of 1985 Grey Towers Castle was declared a National Historic Landmark.

Very overcast and I'm partied out - so - just a pansy from outback! So out of it, didn't know my pansy from a petunia!!!

Poor Jax. I can already see he will not be getting as much sleep as he used to. I can see it in his eyes - "Back off, lady!"

Poor Jax, he will be my "fall back guy"....! At least I managed to hide his shaved crown!

Closer view of Beaver College - I only had a few minutes to kill before meeting friends, so just a few shots. Going back soon.

Oh...and Bill, if you feel a need (hint, hint) there are others that need obnoxious orange traffic barrels and stop signs cloned out .......hint, hint, hint. LOL {BIG evil grin!!!!!!}

Stopped at the local Agricultural School on my way home. Six gorgeous horses and a mother, father and baby mule were out grazing. Not a one would cooperate. All bums or noses in the high grass. No posing at all. This little lady is very pretty, but, it is a feeble shot at best. Maybe I can get Jax to cooperate before the end of the evening..........

Especially lousy day at work. I have been looking for the charger for my camera battery for 2 days. What better way to chill than to go out for Nachos, a few cold ones and watch the managers huddle wondering who this stranger is taking pics in their restaurant.

Love the flying dragon - hopefully on one trip past he will be flying forward!

The collonade remains at the Curtis Arboretum. I couldn't find too much information, Curtis Hall which is still standing and looks (from peering in the windows)amazing in detail, was the ballroom for the Curtis Mansion. Loads of concrete rails and patios are left, but I don't know what happened to the mansion. Cyrus Curtis' daughter founded the arboretum after his death on the grounds of their home.

OK, first of all this photo isn't nearly what I hoped for. This guy sells roses, $6 each at this intersection. He is out there all year! He must make some money to endure the different climates. His umbrella caught my eye tonight. First, I just went with instinct to open window and shoot, then, he thought I was trying to get his attention and started limping toward me and then I noticed my SP. I was hoping to get a few more shots, until he started heading my way. Geez, all at a traffic stop!

A section of the stained glass "ceiling" that Mr. Yuengling had commissioned and installed after the workers complained of the glare from the copper beer vat.
Bugger it all, why can't I get this in the right folder????????

All time low tonight on my way home - I was thrown out of a cemetery! Can you imagine???? "No photos allowed on Archdiocean Property". Soooo, you know I will go back on a Sunday for more mausoleum stained glass shots!!! Hehe...

I just had to include another shot from yesterday (I didn't bring my camera with me today).

Oakleaf Hydrangea. I have never seen these before. Now I want several for my garden. The scent was outstanding! Morris Arboretum, Philadelphia, PA.
